Mike began to search for solutions to increase performance and decrease the backup window, which was stretching into working hours. What he found, however, was more than a technology solution. Regan Technologies provided a superior level of service, helping architect, test and implement a best-of-breed solution that cut backup times by 60 percent. “A co-worker recommended that I contact Regan Technologies,” states Michael Calabrese. “I had some sense of the leading providers in this space, but wanted an outside, unbiased opinion. “Staff members from Regan Technologies performed research based on Mr. Calabrese’s requirements and identified two leading software solutions and two hardware platforms as potential candidates. Then they helped Mr. Calabrese balance the price and performance benefits. While Mr. Calabrese felt good about the recommendation, this was not quite enough information to make a final decision. “We were pretty comfortable with the solution Regan Technologies had recommended,” states Mr. Calabrese. “What really helped us to make the final decision was their superior customer service.” Regan Technologies’ staff helped architect a test environment that included StorageTek™ hardware and a leading provider of backup software. Regan Technologies loaned the StorageTek hardware from their store of system assets and worked with the staff at the backup software firm to secure demo software. For two weeks, Open Solutions ran mock tests of their backup environment and were very impressed with the results. “Regan Technologies did everything we needed,” states Mr. Calabrese. “They got all of the parties together and scheduled and managed everything. While the mock tests only lasted two weeks, it took nearly a month to get everything in place,” states Mr. Calabrese. After deciding on final pricing, Open Solutions wanted to expedite the implementation within two weeks. The firm was moving buildings on a set date and wanted to deploy the new backup platform in the new facility. Before they could move servers from the old facility, however, the new backup system had to be fully functional to ensure data protection. There was only one problem – the backup software firm’s engineers were booked six weeks in advance. “Regan Technologies sent one of their engineers to training on the backup software platform,” states Mr. Calabrese. “As soon as the StorageTek libraries were installed and configured, we began working on the software implementation.” The final solution was operational within the timeframe that Open Solutions needed and the move was a success. “Regan Technologies really stepped up,” states Mr. Calabrese. “They gave us all the resources we needed. It was great news to hear that Regan Technologies could send one of their own engineers to assist with the software implementation.” Mr. Calabrese reports that it’s a great feeling to walk into the office in the morning knowing that overnight the data protection cycles ran and that the data are ready to go offsite for disaster recovery.
